![]() Ishin is a single complete story that ends at a definitive point and has a point too make with it's ending as well. The framework is the same, you have your big final showdown with the antagonist, and you beat him and he usually dies or sometimes goes too jail, but something was gained or learned in the process and Kiryu returns too the state he was at the beginning of the journey and awaits the next one. Lot's of the conflict being: Who is Ryoma? Is he forced too live as Saito Hajime? Is he Shinsengumi? Is he a Tosa Loyalist? What if all of these are true of him?īut the ending stands out as important because this does not end like every other RGG game. But names are extremely important too the story the longer it goes on such as characters abandon their names, and take on other names such as Hanpeita becoming Ryoma. Many characters use fake names, or names they took from other people, usually too hide their identity because of crimes. So, Ishin! seems too have have a big theme of identity. ![]() I'm likely misquoting the article but that was the reason I remember them giving and I remember it because it stood out too me and I didn't really understand what they meant, but oh my Lord I get it now. So I remember an old interview back when RGG studios was asked if they would localize RGG Ishin too the west, and at the time their answer was "no" because it was "too japanese" apparently. Just beat it this morning, a very good game but that ending was something else. (Spoilers do not need to be tagged on /r/yakooza, so browse with caution.)
